I used to believe that doing what you love and earning a living were two very separate things. And I wondered if making a living from my creativity would kill my love for it. It hasn’t! I still adore flowers, and what can be created with them and I have grown to learn so much about business over the last five years that has become an asset for my future. I only wish there had been a guide on what to expect, what to do, and how to do it back when I started creating wedding flowers for family, friends and then as a business. I felt very alone, and those florists I did reach out to for a little advice were naturally suspicious of new competition and not willing to part with trade secrets. When all I really needed was help understanding how to make the transition from working a desk job to working with flowers.
It took a lot of grunt work and groaning but I got there eventually and now feel I’m in a grateful position to help you shortcut the experience. When you grow a business that allows you to be your own creative self, have a steady flow of ideal clients and enough profit to travel across the world (and for me, permanently fix my eyesight) it’s one of the most freeing and rewarding feelings. And it’s not impossible. My intention is to provide you with resources to speed up your learning and see you succeed in business to follow your joy.
The freedom found in designing your own occupation and being your own boss is not only satisfying but transformative. And it can be done making a living from your creativity, and working with clients that respect and inspire you.
